MW Maiden Property suffered, an Gas Meter Outage in one our Terraced Homes, after an Gas Safety Check, which resulted in our tenants, being without a Gas for 3 days. The Safety Check passed as expected but an issue was found with the meter.

Unfortunately , this outage resulted in the loss of Heating in the home, and Hot Water throughout. Portable heating was shipped out to our customer as a backup heating supply, until the Gas Supply was re connected.

The Gas Meter was swapped out by the National Gas Provider, and the Gas Appliances all worked as expected, and the relevant Gas Safety Certificate issued.

The Utility Meters should be visually inspected pre purchase, as Utility meter's can be between 10 to 20 years old.

Once the property has been acquired, call the relevant Utility supplier, and have the meter checked or swapped out pre new tenancy.

This would offer some welcome piece of mind once a new tenancy starts and avoid this type of issue during your tenancy.

Also , consider options for backup heating, for example portable heaters, or electric showers, so your tenants have a hot water supply during boiler outages.
